BRIDGE REPLACEMENT ON DEER HAVEN RD

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project involved replacing an aging three-span, 57-foot-long bridge supported by two masonry piers with a modern precast concrete modular structure spanning 60 linear feet. Designed to be 32 feet wide, the new bridge accommodates an undivided two-lane roadway flanked by four-foot grassed shoulders, enhancing both traffic flow and overall safety for local motorists.

The updated design meets contemporary standards for structural integrity, durability, and roadway geometry. In particular, the single-span precast concrete approach reduces long-term maintenance costs by eliminating the multiple piers that characterized the old structure. By offering a more streamlined crossing of Canoe Creek, the replacement bridge ensures a reliable, efficient route for the Pinson community and surrounding areas.

Engineering services covered the full scope of design and documentation, including horizontal and vertical geometric alignments, detailed plan and profile sheets, paving layout and cross-sections to illustrate proposed grades and cut/fill requirements. A phased traffic control plan was also implemented to maintain safe and continuous travel throughout construction. Additionally, erosion and sedimentation control measures were implemented, safeguarding the creek’s water quality and surrounding natural habitat.
