HUFFMAN HIGH SCHOOL

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

As part of the capital improvements program that was launched by the Birmingham City Board of Education in 2004, a new Huffman High School was to be constructed on the expanded site of the existing Huffman High School in Birmingham, AL. In order to ensure that the local streets were able to safely and efficiently accommodate new traffic patterns generated by the proposed school, Dynamic Civil Solutions was retained as the traffic consultant to undertake a traffic impact study. The new school would be 232,000 sq. ft in size with an enrollment of approximately 1,500 students, an increase from the 1,350 students of the existing high school.

Engineering services included trip generation, distribution and assignment, intersection capacity analysis, existing and future circulation and access evaluation, traffic signal warrant analysis, traffic signal timings, traffic signal design and plans and specifications.
