JONES VALLEY K-8 SCHOOL

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

As part of the capital improvement program that was launched by the Birmingham City Board of Education in 2004, a new Jones Valley K-8 School was to be constructed on the existing Jones Valley Elementary School in Birmingham, AL. Due to the redistricting of the schools in the area, the new Jones Valley K-8 School was projected to have significantly more enrollment. The proposed K-8 school would have been 76,000 sq. ft in area and have a capacity of 740 students.

In order to ensure that the local streets were able to safely and efficiently accommodate new traffic patterns generated by the proposed school, Dynamic Civil Solutions was retained as the traffic consultant to undertake a traffic impact study. Engineering services included trip generation, distribution and assignment, intersection capacity analysis, existing future circulation and access evaluation and site distance evaluation.
