HOPE VI TUXEDO COURT
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Tuxedo Terrace (formerly Tuxedo Court) is a public housing project operated by the Housing Authority of the Birmingham District located at 2035 Avenue Q Ensley in the Tuxedo neighborhood of the Ensley. In 2004, the Housing Authority of the Birmingham District was awarded a $20 million grant through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Hope VI program to revitalize the historic African-American neighborhood of Tuxedo Court as mixed-income rental and for-sale housing and to renovate a community center and daycare facility in the area.
As a part of the consulting team, Dynamic Civil Solutions provided professional civil engineering services for the proposed 30-acre project. Engineering services performed included sanitary sewer design, hydraulic design and calculations and the preparation of right-of-way tract sketches and legal descriptions for approximately 17 sanitary sewer lines in accordance with the requirements for Jefferson County Environmental Services Department.
