PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Hill University Center is the heart of the University of Alabama at Birmingham campus life with many academic, support, and social activities happening in and around the five-story building. University dining, information, mail, the Blazer Bookstore, the UAB Ticket Office, Student Publications, and Blazeradio are all components of the Hill University Center. With increasing enrollment, it was necessary for the University to demolish the existing facility and construct a new student center as the focal point of Student Affairs.

Dynamic Civil Solutions provided civil engineering services for the demolition of the 140,000 sf building and the city block that it seats on. The demolition package included the removal of all underground utilities, above ground utilities, pavements and buildings within the project limits. Engineering services included the determination of final site grades and backfill specifications. Temporary storm water erosion control devices were designed in accordance with Best Management Practices.
