INSTITUTE OF VISUAL ARTS

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Abroms-Engel Institute for the Visual Arts is home to the College of Arts and Science’s Department of Art and Art History. The institute features leading-edge galleries, studio, offices and storage space for the department and presents a dynamic, angular addition to UAB’s campus while offering students, faculty and the Birmingham community a unique opportunity to create, exhibit and view phenomenal artwork.

The proposed development consisted of a 26,000 square foot gallery with associated utilities and site work. As part of the design-build team tasked with the delivery of this project, Dynamic Civil Solutions was responsible for providing civil engineering design and civil related construction administration services for the new facility. Efforts were coordinated with other architectural disciplines to provide a comprehensive design. Engineering services included civil site design, site grading and drainage plan, erosion and sediment control plans, utility systems design, civil construction details and construction administration.
