AL-5 & WASHINGTON ST INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Commissioned by Perry County and funded through the Alabama Industrial Access Road and Bridge Corporation program, this intersection improvement project focused on enhancing traffic flow and accommodating a high volume of heavy trucks traveling to and from a local manufacturing facility. The scope of work included adding new turn lanes, resurfacing existing pavement, and upgrading the intersection geometry to meet current design standards for capacity and safety.

The project’s engineering services involved developing detailed horizontal and vertical geometrics, plan and profile sheets, and cross-sections. Drainage design was incorporated to effectively manage surface water runoff. The work also encompassed a traffic control plan designed to maintain traffic flow and minimize disruptions during construction. Finally, erosion and sedimentation control measures were implemented to protect the surrounding environment and comply with regulatory requirements throughout construction.
